Trumpets, Atonement, Shelters 2019
If you’re not sure why we’re talking about a Day of Trumpets, a Day of Atonement, and a Festival called Shelters, then please have a look here and then come back! Below is a list of key events to help us connect with Jesus through the rhythms of the Biblical Festivals in September-October 2019.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29
Daily devotional readings and prayers begin – sign up via firstname.lastname@example.org
9:30am at Fremantle Christian College (FCC): Participating in God’s “Day of Trumpets” together through prayer, songs, and teaching. We will also be joined by a guest presenter from Compassion Australia.
6:30pm at FCC: Screening of the film Sheep Among Wolves Part 2 (released August 2019). “Muslim-background Iranians are leading a quiet but mass exodus out of Islam and bowing their knees to the Jewish Messiah—with kindled affection toward the Jewish people. The Iranian awakening is a rapidly reproducing discipleship movement that owns no property or buildings, has no central leadership, and is predominantly led by women.”
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 2: HEARTBEAT
Heartbeat is our monthly gathering for prayer with fasting. Join us in the morning at the Prayer Room (9-11am) or in the evening at FCC (7:30-9pm).
SUNDAY OCTOBER 6: REFLECTIONS ON ATONEMENT
A guest speaker will be with us at FCC to teach on the subject of Atonement.
TUESDAY OCTOBER 8 & WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 9: DAY OF ATONEMENT
The Prayer Room will be open from 6-9pm on Tuesday 8th, and from 6am-6pm on Wednesday 9th. We will join thousands across the globe in seeking the Lord and praying for the salvation of Israel, as well as our nation. Sign up and make a commitment to be with others in the Prayer Room using the button below.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 13: BEGINNING OF THE FESTIVAL OF SHELTERS
We’ll gather at FCC at 9:30am for our Sunday Celebration, remembering that the Festival of Shelters officially begins at sunset on this day.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 20: CELEBRATING JESUS, KING OVER THE WHOLE EARTH
In keeping with the Biblical theme of the Shelters Festival, we’ll host a special celebration focusing on Jesus as the returning King who will rule the nations (Zechariah 14). Special guest artists Island Breeze (see video below) will be with us to perform some cultural dances and share worship that comes “from the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 24). We’ll bring our Harvest Offering as an expression of gratitude to God, and as a means of sowing into a harvest of people in our city and beyond. Afterwards, we will have an international lunch and outdoor activities. New Lifers will be invited to bring the flavours of the nations to share at our lunch – look out for your invitation!
