Shelters Sunday takes place in the Biblical rhythm of the Festival of Shelters (also known as Tabernacles, Booths, or the Hebrew ‘Sukkot’ – learn more here).
On Shelters Sunday we join ourselves to God’s calendar by gathering to worship, give thanks, bring our annual Harvest Offering, and to eat, drink and play together!
It’s not a normal Sunday! Here’s what you need to know:
Different time! Arrive at 10am for a 10:30am service, with lunch just before 12pm.
Different place! We’ll be on the grass behind the Fremantle Christian College Hall.
Bring chairs and rugs! A key theme in the Shelters Festival is… shelters! Bring your own shelter to shade you from the sun, e.g. gazebo, beach umbrella, tent, teepee. Bring your chairs and rugs – you’ll need these for the service and for lunch. By arriving at 10am, you’ll be set up and ready to go for worship at 10:30am.
Harvest Offering! This is the day to hand in your pledge for the Harvest Offering.
Compassion Australia! A special guest from Compassion will be with us. There will be an opportunity to sponsor a child from the Karen Tribe in Thailand.
Lunch! We’re supplying a beef-bread-n-gravy lunch, a coffee van, and dessert. If you’d like salad or sides to go with your beef roll, please BYO. Contact Lauren if you have questions about this.
Inflatable and activities! We’ve got a few fun things for the kids.
RSVPs – New Lifers, we’re anticipating we’ll see you there. If you’re bringing guests with you, please let Laina know via firstname.lastname@example.org.
